Tucked in the expanses of the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, Bakubung, or the People of the Hippo, provides guests with the peace and tranquilty of a true bush experience coupled with the luxury and service you have come to expect from a Legacy bush lodge.
Accommodation at Bakubung Bush Lodge
Our 76 air-conditioned, thatched roof, studio rooms and 66 chalets curve into a horse-shoe around the outside entertainment areas, huddling visitors in cosy intimacy.
All rooms have DStv, direct dialling phones, en-suite bathrooms, electric shaving plugs, coffee/tea making machines and a hair dryer.

Activities
Your wildlife experiences are best shared at a blazing campfire, while you marvel at the spectacle of innumerable stars at our exclusive Boma Lapa in the park.
Set out on an African safari into the Pilanesberg National Park. You can either brave it on foot, or seek asylum from the sun under the canopy of a game watching vehicle.

Bakubung offer a shuttle service to and from Sun City at a nominal charge.
From the lodge: 20 minutes to the hour
From Sun City: on the hour
Sunday to Thursday: every second hour from 09:40, then every hour from 17:40 until 23:40.
Friday and Saturday: every hour from 09:40 until 01:40
To/from Pilanesberg Airport on request.
Conference Facilities
Facilities include slide projectors, built-in screens, portable screens, overhead projectors, a lectern, TV monitors, VHS VCRs, flipcharts and a big screen video projector.
Wall-to-wall carpeting and independent airconditioning.
Services include secretarial, fax, photocopying and internet/e-mail access.
What to pack
In order to make your stay as comfortable as possible, we suggest the following preparedness tips:
- UV protection sun block, lip creams, and sun hat
- Comfortable walking shoes for tracking safaris
- Prescription medicines
- During the winter (May to September) the mornings and evenings can be cold. Therefore we suggest you bring along a bush jacket and warm clothing for game drives and light clothing for the days.
- During the summer (October to April) light weight cotton clothing will provide both adequate shielding from the sun’s UV rays and comfort in the heat.
Climate
In South Africa the average number of sunshine hours is amongst the highest in the world.
In the summer the temperature varies from 10°C (50°F) at night to high 30's°C (high 90's°F) in the heat of the day. Winters are mild with a daytime temperature that is normally above 20°C (68°C). At night it gets considerably colder with the temperature dropping below -2°C (27°C). Temperatures tend to drop dramatically just after sunset.
Childrens Policy
Children under the age of 18 years when accompained in the same room as an adult eat and sleep free of charge, maximum two children per room:
Children occupying their own room will be charged the full adult rate.
