Shibula Lodge and Bush Spa, a five star accredited lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in Limpopo Province, South Africaoffers the discerning visitor Africa in all its untamed magnificence, along with truly superb standards of hospitality.

Superbly situated close to the best game viewing areas of the 36 000 hectare private Welgevonden Game Reserve, Shibula Lodge hugs the banks of a scenic river and has magnificent views of the overhanging cliffs, where the antics of the resident baboon troop entertain guests.

 

Accommodation at Shibula Lodge

Guests have a choice of nine luxuriously furnished suites; all fitted with Victorian baths, inside and outside showers, private patios and mini bars.

Five standard suites

2Suitesare not as spacious as the luxury suites, but do have an outside jaquzzi. 2 Suites have an interleading door and ideal for a family.

The four luxury suites

All with air con are more spacious and luxurious than the standard suites. 1 Suitehas a private lounge with fireplace and outside jacuzzi. 2 Suites have a private lounge with fireplace, satellite TV, a private patio and splash pool. Ideal for a family or a small group of four. 1 Suitehas a private lounge, fire place and a spa bath in the bedroom.

Activities

For bush enthusiasts, morning and evening game drives are organised. They can enjoy bush walks and bird watching too.

Guests are assured of exceptional game viewing. Including some of the best Rhino sightings on the continent. Large variety of different antelope can be seen in one game reserve than in any other game reserve in Southern Africa. Rare game species includes Aardvark and Brown Hyena, Eland, Gemsbok, Tsessebe and Bush Pig. Night game drives give the visitor an insight into South African nocturnal wildlife.

Weather Conditions

Summer months:
October through to April, this is also normally our rainy season. The days are warm to hot, with evenings cool and pleasant.22 to 38 degrees Celsius.
Winter months:
May to September, the days are mild with the evenings and mornings cool to cold.5 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Arrival / Departure

Transfer to Shibula Lodge by road from Johannesburg takes two and a half hours; or 45 minutes by private air charter.
Due to the 45 minute drive from the main gate to Shibula, arrival times at the main gate is 13h00 & 16h30. Differing arrival times can be arranged at an additional cost.

What to take

Sun block, sunglasses, a cap or hat, walking shoes, personal medications, cameras, extra film. During summer a light jacket, during winter a warm jacket for the game drives. Don’t forget your swimwear in the summer months.

Child Policy

Children sharing with parents pay 50% of adult rate. Note: Children under the age of 10 years will only be allowed on the lodge by prior arrangement and taking existing reservations into consideration.
