Falaza Game Park

Falaza is aptly named after a war veteran of King Cetshwaya's Zulu Impi (1873-1883), who, over a century ago, fought against the British forces at the famous battle of Isandhlwana. His village, built on the fertile banks of the Mzinene River, was known by the early hunters as Dugandlovu - "the place where the elephants get lost".

Falaza, a privately owned game park, protects the remnants of this once mighty sand forest, which evolved over 150,000 years ago. Falaza is situated in sand dunes overlooking the marine shoreline and coral reefs at False Bay. Numerous species of animals have been re-introduced to Falaza, which borders onto the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park. Falaza overlooks Lake St. Lucia's False Bay and is centrally located to KwaZulu-Natal's major game reserves. The Dumazulu Authentic Zulu Village is one of many local places of interest.
