Kwa Madwala Game Reserve
Manyatta Rock Camp

Two towering granite rocks reach towards the sky to provide the dramatic setting for this comfortable four star camp which sits on a typical African kopjie. Located in the heart of the Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve, Manyatta Rock Camp is the perfect setting to relax, unwind and enjoy the wilderness and wildlife at Kwa Madwala.
Watch the sun rise over the Lembobo Mountains to the east and in the evenings marvel at the orange glow as the sun sets again in the west. Take in the bush views in every direction and listen to the stillness of this piece of African wilderness. Chill out in the cosy viewing lounge deck which is raised on stilts and juts out to provide a stunning spot for leisurely game viewing from this vantage point.
Accommodation at Manyatta Rock Camp:
Our unique dome shaped bedrooms are scattered across the kopjie with fabulous views out across the bush from the private wooden deck of each unit. Manyatta has been skillfully designed to blend in with the surrounding natural environment and to ensure that all rooms offer a private wooden deck for bright mornings and lazy afternoons overlooking the African bush. An outside shower, deckchairs and hammock make the decks very popular with guests.
Allrooms are comfortable yet tastefully furnished and infused with elegant African touches. The bedrooms are air-conditioned with two twin beds made up as a queen size bed and include a mini fridge (which can be stocked as a bar upon request). The en-suite bathroom has dual his and hers sinks, w.c. and bath.
Seven of the accommodation units also feature a separate living room complete with sofa bed, mini fridge and wood burner. These units are well suited to families with older children. Maximum room occupancy in these units is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
The beautifully appointed Honeymoon Suite features a large four poster bed, private deck and shower and is ideally located for maximum privacy.

What to pack
- Clothing – suggest 100% cotton especially in the summer season (Nov-Apr).
- "Cargo" style shorts and trousers, shirts and t-shirts. Recommend you stick to the darker natural/earthy colours. Whites and bright colours are not appropriate for the bush and may spoil game viewing activities.
- Light jacket or fleece for the evening and early mornings as it can get “chilly” at the back on an open 4X4 vehicle.
- Lightweight rain smock is worth considering if visiting between November and March. Ponchos are provided on the vehicles.
- Swimsuits and bathing towel (we only supply bathroom towels)
- Comfortable hiking/walking shoes/boots and socks. Essential for bushwalks and game drives. Around camp open sandals / trainers etc. can be worn.
- Sun hat and appropriate sunscreen.
- Beanie or woolly type hat for evenings around the fire or out on the vehicles in the winter months (May-Sep).
- Personal medication (although local pharmacists can provide a vast array of common drugs and remedies)
- Anti-malaria prophylaxes. “High risk season” is during the warm summer months (Nov–Mar). We supply insect repellent but you may wish to bring your own. If you are prone to bites consider bringing your own mosquito net.
- Camera, binocular and video/digital cameras and a reading book

Children over the age of 6 years old are welcome to stay with their parents at Manyatta Rock Camp. A limited number of accommodation units at Manyatta have a living room with a pull out sofa bed which are able to sleep two additional children (or one additional adult). Please request family units in advance as we have limited capacity.
Please remember this is an unfenced camp in a big 5 game reserve and children need to be supervised in a responsible manner at all times.
