Accommodation in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve

Marc's Treehouse

Marc's Treehouse Lodge, adjacent to the Cheetah Inn and on the Klaserie River, part of the 3000 ha Motlala Game Reserve, is an easy 5 hour drive from Johannesburg. The tar road comes all the way to the front gate.

Blessed with a romantic aura of unspoiled Africa, Marc's Treehouse Lodge is situated in a game rich bushveld paradise. Twelve rustic reed-and-thatch treehouses, each with individual facilities, accommodate a maximum of 32 guests. Three of the treehouses are built around an illuminated waterhole, often frequented by the resident buffalo herd, while nine treehouses are discreetly situated in gallery forest along the river. There is a swimming pool, outside bar and three Boma venues for dining. The treehouses are rustic and charming and have lanterns to brighten the African night.

The reserve is home to abundant game species: Rhino, buffalo, leopard, hyena, giraffe, zebra, eland, tsessebe, wildebeest, waterbuck, kudu, impala, nyala, bushbuck, duiker, jackal, serval and other small game. The reason for this high concentration of game is the abundance of water on the reserve. The perennial Klaserie River is home to otter, crocodile and hippo and attracts abundant bird life, including such specials as Narina Trogon, Purple-crested Loerie and African Finfoot.
