Situated on boundless horizons flanked by the Zuurberg Mountains, River Bend enjoys an enviable position within the Addo Elephant National Park and offers eight luxuriously appointed double suites with inter-leading rooms for families. Children are very welcome. The executive Meeting Room, which can seat up to sixteen, is perfect for corporate nature escapes.

A vitality studio that was opened in 2002 has proved very popular with guests enjoying luxury skin and body treatments ranging from aromatherapy and massages to manicures and facials.

A drive, that explores all of the River Bend interests in the Addo area, has also been introduced. The River Bend Drive involves a shortened game drive followed by a tour of the neighbouring citrus orchards where biologically friendly methods are employed, as well as a brief tour of the adjacent Conservancy in which River Bend is involved. The tour of the Conservancy includes a visit to the Wildlife Research Centre where guests are able to view wild dogs, cheetah and serval.

River Bend is also able to offer some of the best game drives available in the Eastern Cape. Having been awarded a concession in the newly incorporated Nyati Concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park, River Bend is in the unique position of being able to offer guests a choice of exploring the exclusive 17 000 hectare Nyati Concession or the 19 000 hectares of the original world-renowned Addo Elephant National Park, which River Bend guests access through a private entrance. Of the two concessions awarded in the Nyati concession, to date River Bend is the only lodge that exists in the area, enabling guests to explore this area in total privacy.

Accommodation at River Bend Lodge

8 Spacious luxury suites of which two units are family interleading rooms. All suites have en-suite bathrooms (with bath & shower) and a private verandah.

Rates Include:

Accommodation, breakfast, lunch & dinner, all game activities, a complimentary treatment at Vitality Studio, teas, coffees, park levies, entrance fee and 14% VAT.

Optional excursions, all drinks, telephone calls, additional treatments, laundry and retail purchases.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome at River Bend. Various activities are on offer including a playroom where hours of fun can be had.

The team is geared towards every need and children will be taken on walks with their guide, baking biscuits with the chef or doing mini treatments with the Beauty Therapist.

There is also a dedicated channel on our television network on which children are able to choose from a selection of videos to be played.

Should your children decide not to join you on a game drive or for dinner, we have trained child minders to take care of them while you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the Addo Elephant National Park and make use of the luxury facilities at River Bend Lodge.

A specially designed kiddies menu of all-time favorites, served at your convenience, all form part of our commitment to ensuring a pleasant stay for all our guests.

Our experienced in-house Beauty Therapist will revitalize and refresh your body, mind and soul. The River Bend Vitality Studio offers a range of treatments making use of world renowned Dermalogica. Treatments are arranged at your convenience in the Vitality Studio or in the privacy of your suite.

Climate

Summer - October to March
Predominantly dry season with hot days and warm nights. Temperatures range from 25 to 40 degrees centigrade. Rainfall can be experienced during this period with exceptional summer rainfall in the north.

Winter - April to August
This is the rainy season with generally cool days and cold nights. Temperatures range from 5 to 25 degrees centigrade.
