Itinerary:
Day 1:
Arrive at the Lilongwe International airport or for those guests already in Lilongwe, transfer out to the airport. You will be met by a Land and Lake representative and led to your charter flight to Likoma Island. It’s a 35min flight to Likoma where you will once again be met and transferred to Nkwichi Lodge on the Mozambique side of Lake Malawi. Overnight here on full board + activities.
Day 2:
The day is spent relaxing and exploring this unique and beautiful paradise. Including all meals, teas, coffees, water and nonmotorised activities (guided walking, canoeing, snorkelling, Dhow sailing trips and visits to the local villages) as well as accommodation in their luxury chalets.
Day 3:
After breakfast, we depart Manda Wilderness area and head southwards towards Cuamba. Arrival in Cuamba is late afternoon. Here we prepare for the next morning early train journey eastwards to Nampula. Overnight at the Vision 2000 which just a walking distance from the Railway station.
Day 4:
The train departs at 04H00 and it’s a slow and interesting journey through the heart of the country with numerous stops along the way. Arrival in Nampula is late afternoon. Overnight at Hotel Tropicana on bed and breakfast basis [Note – This journey part of the journey might be by road should the train not be available for any reason]
Day 5:
After breakfast, continue to the coast to Isle de Mozambique. This historic island provides a fascinating insight into the early days and development of Mozambique. It was a major slave trading port and remnants of the original architecture can still be seen to date. Overnight at 3 star Hotel Omuhipiti on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 6:
After breakfast and a city tour, we depart and drive to Nuwaru beach near Nacala. This beautiful beach is a tropical paradise and the perfect place to relax and offers ample exploring and swimming opportunities. Overnight Camping all meals included basis.
Day 7:
Full day at leisure on the beach. Enjoy the optional water sports activities at Nuwaru – boat cruises, scuba diving, sailing or simply walking and meeting the friendly locals. Overnight camping inclusive all meals.
Day 8:
After breakfast we retrace of route to Nampula again for a night stop over. Overnight at Hotel Tropicana on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 9:
Early departure and continue to Mocuba. This is really an overnight stop en route to Gorongoza Park. Overnight camping inclusive camp meals.
Day 10:
After breakfast, we drive to Gorongoza National Park. Arrival here is late afternoon. On arrival set up camp and after we have settled in and time allows, we depart on our first exploratory game drive. We camp near Chitengo and all camp meals are included.
Day 11& 12:
Full day in the Gorongoza National Park. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, returning to camp between activities. Overnight camping with all camp meals included.
Day 13:
After a morning game drive, we drive through Chimoya and continue to Chikamba Dam where we stay in basic bedrooms at Chikamba Dam. Camp meals included.
Day 14:
It’s a long drive after to Tete on some bad roads, then up to the Malawi border at Dedza. Arrival in Lilongwe is late afternoon where we stay at the beautiful 4 star Sanctuary Lodge on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 15:
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight or for your onward journey.
