Extra information

Luggage Limitations

As you will be travelling in vehicles and small aircraft with limited luggage capacity, your luggage is required to be packed in a soft bag weighing a maximum of 10kg. A reasonable amount of photographic equipment is allowed.

Children Policy

Regrettably children under 12 cannot be accommodated on scheduled safaris, and an adult relative or guardian must accompany participants between 12 and 18 years old.

Best seasons to visit

Expeditions offer exceptional safari experiences and superb wildlife viewing throughout the year. Botswana’s rainy season – generally in the form of magnificent afternoon thundershowers – is from late December to the end of February, sometimes continuing into March. The sunlight after an African storm is incredibly intense and superb for wildlife photography. The summer rains also bring spectacular migrant birds to Botswana. March to May is beautiful as the vegetation turns green after the rains and many species of wild flower come into bloom. The Okavango Delta is generally at its highest flood levels from June to August. Daytime temperatures range between 24°C/75°F - 27°C/81°F lowering to approximately 6°C/43°F at night. As September to December tends to be dry and hot, the game viewing is excellent with wildlife congregating at various waterholes and along the Chobe River. The average temperature is 35°C/95°F, but can reach 40°C/104°F.

Camera and battery charging facilities

On Great Explorer and Lodge-Accommodated Safaris, film can be replaced at various lodges, and can be bought at Nxabega Trails Camp on Pioneer Safaris.

Please note that a 12V cigarette lighter adaptor will be required (that is compatible with camera make)
