Tubu Tree Camp is situated in the 60.000 hectare Jao Reserve which borders the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana's Okavango Delta. The Camp is a traditional style tented safari camp built on raised wooden platforms to take best advantage of the beautiful view over the floodplains. The camp accommodates guests in 5 large, comfortable tents, each with a small, private deck in front.

All the tents have en suite bathroom facilities and private outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas are also large tents on raised platforms, with an outdoor pub area built under the canopy of a large Marula tree.

Activities at Tubu Tree Camp include day and night game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles, as well as walking with an armed guide. When the Okavango's annual flood is at its highest (normally May to late September), boating, fishing and mokoro trips are also offered.

A variety of habitats ensures diverse and interesting game viewing. Wildlife seen here includes elephant, Lion, Zebra, Red Lechwe, Giraffe, Tsessebe, Wildebeest as well as Kudu, Impala, Leopard and Bushbuck.

Extra information

Safaris, Game drives and other activities

Game Viewing

A variety of habitats ensures diverse and interesting game viewing, as well as spectacular birding. Wildlife seen here includes Elephant, Lion, Zebra, Red Lechwe, Giraffe, Tsessebe, and Wildebeest on the floodplains. Kudu, Impala, Leopard and Bushbuck are also seen in the forested areas. During our winter months, the water levels rise and the floodplains become covered with water, permitting water activities. The variety of bird life is impressive with dry land species seen on the large islands and all the wetland birds seen on the floodplains and waterways.

Children

Children over the age of 8 years are welcome

Laundry

Laundry is done on a daily basis and inclusive in the nightly tariff with the exception of "smalls" i.e. underwear, which are not washed due to local customs.

Climate

Botswana's climate is semi-arid. Though it is hot and dry for much of the year, there is a rainy season, which runs through the summer months. Rainfall tends to be erratic, unpredictable and highly regional. Often a heavy downpour may occur in one area while 10 or 15 kilometres away there is no rain at all. Showers are often followed by strong sunshine so that a good deal of the rainfall does not penetrate the ground but is lost to evaporation and transpiration.

Summer (Rainy season)November - March
It usually brings very high temperatures. Cloud coverage and rain can cool things down considerably, although only usually for a short period of time.

Winter (Dry season)May - August
Virtually no rainfall occurs. Days are invariably sunny and cool to warm; however, evening and night temperatures can drop below freezing point in some areas, especially in the southwest.

The in-between periods - April/early May and September/October - still tend to be dry, but the days are cooler than in summer and the nights are warmer than in winter.
